Edgar Chana Law Professional Corporation is a boutique law firm that was founded in 2013 to provide high quality estates and trust planning services at more reasonable rates. Ambie Edgar-Chana and Aaron Edgar had both previously established their practices at large Bay Street law firms and sought a better way to practice law, for their clients and for themselves.

Edgar Chana Law Professional Corporation practices solely in trusts, wills, and estates. The firm assists Canada’s largest banks and trust companies, financial advisors, financial planners, accountants, and their clients.

Ambie advises clients on tax-efficient will and estate planning, business succession planning, family and alter-ego trusts, and estate administration. Ambie also works with the largest trust companies and banks in Canada, as well as financial advisors and accountants, to assist their high net worth and professional clientele achieve their estate planning goals.

Ambie is an active member of the estate planning Bar. She is the author/editor of O’Brien’s – Wills and Trusts, Division V, one of the foremost resources for estate planning lawyers. She is the former president of the Estate Planning Council of Toronto, was a former executive member of the Ontario Bar Association, Trusts & Estates section, and has her designation as a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. Ambie’s expertise has also been recognized by the media. She has provided quotes and advice to Canadian publications, such as MoneySense Magazine. Ambie is regularly asked to present to banks, trust companies, and Ontario Bar Association members on estate and trust related matters.

Ambie’s focus on estate planning began at law school where she was awarded the Margaret E. Rintoul Award for the highest standing in Estate Planning, was a Dean’s Honour List student and received the Law Society of Upper Canada Prize for academic excellence. After law school, Ambie practiced at Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP, a large, full-service Bay Street law firm, for 7 years before establishing Edgar Chana Law.

Aaron advises clients on estate planning and estate administration matters as part of his estates and trust practice. In his estate planning role, Aaron meets with clients to ascertain their estate planning goals and drafts tax-efficient planning documents, including Wills, Powers of Attorney, and inter vivos trusts. Aaron also assists clients with obtaining probate (Certificate of Appointment) and provides general estate administration advice.

Prior to entering into the practice of law, Aaron worked as an electrical engineer designing integrated circuits for a start-up telecommunications company.

Rio and Coco
Rio and CocoFirm Greeters
Rio is the firm’s greeter and is always excited to meet clients. On your visit to the firm’s Toronto office you will likely see Rio through the glass doors. Rio likes to sit patiently outside the board room waiting for Ambie to finish her meetings. Coco passed away in 2021 and is deeply missed by the firm and the clients she touched.
